Life is Beautiful is a BOM designed by Helen Stubbings. I have looked everywhere to buy it for about a year and a half, I finally found it at QFD ( they do ship to México). Here are some pictures of my progress. Life is beautiful es un SAL diseñado por Helen Stubbings. Lo había buscado por todas partes para comprarlo desde hace 1 año y finalmente lo encontré en QFD ( pues ahí si lo mandaban a México). Aquí les comparto unas fotos de mi progreso.

I am Back

Finally after so many months, I am back at my blog. I have been doing so many things, book binding, quilting (not that I finished all I started as you can see in the column at right), learning how to cook gluten free and trying to learn photography. But this is a new year and I am back, ready to quilt new things and finish most of my UFO´s and post about it.
Finalmente estoy de regreso en mi blog. He estado haciendo muchas cosas, encuadernación, patchwork ( que no quiere decir que termine todos mis trabajos como ven el la columna a la derecha), también he estado aprendiendo a cocinar sin gluten y tratando de aprender fotografía. Pero es un nuevo año y ya regrese lista para empezar cosas nuevas y tratar de terminar algunos UFO´s olvidados y contarles.

I also did this bag it is from the Janelle Wind Collection it is called poppies for you... I made it to go to Cozumel where my husband did an ironman. También hice esta bolsa de la colección de Janelle Wind que se llama poppies for you... La hice para llevarla a Cozumel en donde mi marido hizo un ironman.

Christmas in July Table Runner

This is my version of Christmas in July Table Runner, the original was rectangular, but I have a Square table so I made it a little bigger. Now I just have to Quilt it. Esta es mi version del camino de mesa de Christmas in July, el original era rectangular, pero como mi mesa es cuadrada lo hice un poco mas grande. Ahora solo falta acolcharlo.

Christmas in July.

Christmas in July started on the first, it has been great the projects are fantastic. We have been chatting, a little dificult for me since I had never done it before, but was a lot of fun. Here is a picture of the first project by Gail Pan, it was so much fun doing it. It was supposed to have some ric rac, but I don´t like the kind you can get here on México, so I did´t use any. I also changed the fabric I used one by moda called Garden Party. Christmas in July empezó el primero del mes, a sido muy divertido y los proyectos están increíbles. Hemos estado Chateando, me ha costado un poco de trabajo, pues nunca lo había echo antes, pero fue muy divertido e interesante. He aquí una foto del proyecto diseñado por Gail Pan, fue muy divertido hacerlo. Se suponía que debía llevar espiguilla pero aquí en México no encuentras de buena Calidad, así que no se la puse. También cambie las telas, use unas de Moda llamadas Garden Party.

Pincushions

Some months ago I posted I was going to make chickens and eggs for my Christmas tree. Well, I have changed my mind, I am going to make all different kind of pincushions to hang on my tree. This are the first four. Algunos meses atrás publique que iba a hacer pollos y gallinas para mi árbol de navidad, Pues cambie de opinión y voy a hacer todo tipo de alfileteros para mi árbol. Estos son los primeros cuatro.

I made them from some scraps my friend Jose gave me. they are 2 1/2 inch squares. If you happen to find a beautiful pincushion, please tell me about it so I can make it and hang it in my tree. Hice estos con retazos que me regalo mi amiga Jose. Los cuadrados son de 2 1/2 pulgadas. Si se encuentran un alfiletero bonito por ahí, por favor díganme para poder hacerlo y colgarlo de mi árbol.

Butterfly Garden

I finally finished Butterfly Garden by Leanne Beasley go and visit her blog she does beautiful quilts. It took me almost two years to finish. My daughter wants me to put it as a bedhead in her room. I could do some pillow cases and some cushion to go with it, as well as a new quilt for her bed to go with it. But right now I am waiting for the 1st of July to start with Christmas in July. Finalmente termine Butterly Garden diseñada por Leanne Beasley, las invito a visitar su blog pues hace cosas increibles. Me tomo casi dos años terminarla. Mi hija quiere que la ponga de cabecera en su recamara, podria hacer unas fundas de almohada para que coordinaran, y tambien otro quilt para su cama. Pero, por ahora estoy esperando que sea 1ero de Julio para empezar con Christmas in July

I had to read the cutting instructions several times because I wanted both the bag and the glasses case, and I did cut it wrong so I had to put another piece of linning to the case but it doesn´t show. Tuve que leer las instrucciones varias veces pues quería hacer las dos cosas, la bolsa y el estuche para los anteojos, aun así corte mal y tuve que usar otro material para el forro del estuche pero no se nota.

The bag was designed by Janelle Wind and is called girl friday, I got it on the mail, I have made 3 already and will get 5 more can´t wait to see the next one. El bolso lo diseño Janelle Wind y se llama Girl friday. Lo recibí por correo. Me han llegado 3 y faltan 5 por llegar, no puede esperar para ver el siguiente proyecto.

Notebook Binding

I have been taking classes on notebook binding with Hely Reuter, here is a picture of some of the pieces I have done in class. He estado tomando clases de encuadernación con Hely Reuter y estas son algunas de las piezas hechas en clase.

This was the first one I did, it was a lot of work but I liked the way it came out. Esta es la primera libreta que hice, es un poco de trabajo pero me gusto mucho como quedo.

This one is called a Leporello notebook and it is my favorite my daughter painted the fish inside the little window. Esta libreta se llama Leporello y es de todas mi favorita, mi hija pinto el pez que esta dentro de la ventana

Here is a picture of the inside of the Leporello, my daughter also made me the watercolor paintings inside. This notebook was so much fun to make. Aquí una foto del interior del Leporello, mi hija también me hizo las acuarelas que están dentro de la libreta. Fue muy divertido hacerla.

This is a Japanesse notebook I used fabric to make this one. My quilting brain is working non stop thinking what I could do with the notebook covers. Esta es una libreta Japonesa use telas para forrarla. Mi mente piensa todo lo que podría hacer con Patchwork y las pastas de las libretas.

Last this is an accordion notebook inside a little box. Por último esta es una libreta tipo acordión dentro de su pequeña caja.

Next class we are doing a Japanesse photo album, I have already embroidered the covers, I will show you as soon as I finish it. La próxima clase vamos a hacer un álbum de fotos estilo Japones, ya termine de bordar las pastas, en cuanto lo acabe se los enseño.

I have a baby brother; Jaime, I am 11 years older than he is. And he had a baby. I was so excited, so thrill, I wanted to make him a baby quilt. Jaime and his wife Marion don't like baby colors. and I think dark colors are to strong for babys so I played with what I had and I came up with this:

It had to be masculine my brother said, I think I did it because he has been using it for a whole year now. I hope the next baby is a girl,as I will go crazy with pinks.

I have just finished bag number 2 from the Bagalicious Club it is a beautiful Beach Bag designed by Natalie Ross. Tree of Life

I have finished the second project from Pam Holland. I started it a month ago in San Miguel Allende, Mexico. It is a tree of life that represents my mom, her children and grandchildren, she was always so full of life. Ya termine el segundo proyecto de Pam Holland. Lo empecé hace un mes en San Miguel de allende, México. Es un árbol de la vida que representa a mi madre, sus hijos y sus nietos. Mi madre fue una mujer llena de vida.
To do the project, Pam showed us how to dye the fabric, then I outlined my drawing. After that I colored it and painted it with markers and color pencils. And then the free hand motion quilting (this was the scary part) I had to do it several times in diferent colors until I was happy with the result. Para este proyecto, Pam nos enseño a teñir la tela, después delineé mi dibujo para luego colorearlo con plumones y lapices de colores. Después llego el momento de acolchar a mano libre (esto fue de lo mas complicado) lo tuve que hacer varias veces en colores diferentes hasta que quede satisfecha con el trabajo.

On the 11 and 12 of February my quilting class and I went to San Miguel Allende to take a course with Pam Holland, she is an Australian who does incredible art quilting.We spent the night in San Miguel and had so much fun. The two day course was amazing. the first day she taught us how to draw on fabric and this is what we did. El 11 y 12 de febrero mi grupo de quilting y yo fuimos a San Miguel Allende a tomar un curso con Pam Holland, Ella es una Australiana que hace los más increibles quilts de arte. Nos fuimos a San Miguel a pasar la noche y estubo muy divertido. Su curso de dos días fue fantástico. El primer día nos enseño a colorear la tela y esto fue lo que hicimos.

The second day she taught us how to dye fabric and use pigment pens to color it. She let us do our own designs I am doing a life tree in honor of my mom who died just 3 weeks ago. As soon as I finish it I will post it. El segundo día nos enseñó a teñir tela y a usar plumas de pigmento para colorear. Nos dejó hacer nuestro propio diseño y yo estoy haciendo un árbol de la vida en honor a mi mamá que murió hace 3 semanas en cuanto lo termine lo publicaré en el blog.

I was afraid that I would run out of pinks for the Quilt Along so Ale my friend brought me these beautiful fabrics from her trip. Thanks Ale. Tenia miedo de quedar sin tela color rosa para el Quilt Along, pero Ale mi amiga me trajo estas hermosas telas de su viaje. Gracias Ale.I bought this Pollo Loco pattern and decided to start making chickens and eggs from all my scraps so my next year Cristmas tree is going to be a chicken tree. Compre este patron de Pollo Loco y decidí empezar a hacer pollos de todos los retazos que tengo para que mi árbol de navidad del año que entra sea un árbol de Pollos.

Hi everybody, I haven't posted anything for ages. I t was very busy in the Holidays but I am back. It is a new year and new proyects are on their way first I signed to the Bagalicious Club so I will be doing some bags this year. Please go an see the beautiful fabrics Sarah has this is my favorite. Hola a todos, no he publicado nada en el blog desde hace mucho tiempo. Hubo mucho trabajo es estas vacaciones, pero ya regrese. Es un año nuevo y hay muchos proyectos para este año. me inscribi al Bagalicious Club asi que estare haciendo bolsas este año. Prfavor vayan a ver que telas tan padres (bonitas) tiene Sarah esta es mi favorita.

Pat Holland is coming to Mexico, and I will be taking a class with her on February. Pat Holland viene a México, y tomare unas clases con ella en Febrero.

I am still doing DLN Quilt Along, and still want to do it a King size I am doing block 20. Sigo haciendo el Quilt along , y sigo pensando en hacerla tamaño King, voy en el bloque 20.

Nativity Scene

This is my Nativity Scene, it is a tradition in Mexico to put at least one in every house on Christmas time. Marie, my daughter, and I have been doing it for 14 years, since she was 5 years old. We have been painting 3 or 4 wood figures each year since then. Este es mi nacimiento (Belén), es una tradición en México tener por lo menos uno es la época Navideña. Marie, mi hija y yo lo hemos hecho desde hace 14 años, desde que ella tenia 5. Hemos pintado 3 o 4 figuras de madera por año. Here are some close ups so you can enjoy it better. I have a new nephew and I made him this little quilt for his crib, it is so simple but yet so nice. Tengo un nuevo sobrino y le hice esta pequeña colcha para su cuna, es muy simple pero bonita.This is a close up so you can see the edge it was so much fun doing it. I don't know what I was thinking. I am almost done with Espe's Sal. and I already signed in to three wonderful projects. I will have to work hard to finish all of them. The first is Don't Look Now Quilt Along, it is beautiful visit the page to look at it, here is were I am so far. No se en que estaba pensando. I got a surprise in the mail all the way from Australia, my Swap angel Rachelle sent me these Beautiful Presents. Me llego una sorpresa en el correo desde Australia, mi ángel Rachelle me mando estos hermosos regalos.

This is an eyebag filled with Lavander and Chamomille, wow guess I am ready to relax. Este es un saquito para ojos lleno de Lavanda y Manzanilla, Creo que estoy lista para relajarme This is a case to put my scissors, it is very nice. Este es un estuche para guardar mis tijeras, esta muy bonito.
This is an apron, which I will use a lot since I love cooking. Este es un delantal, el cual voy a usar muy seguido pues me encanta cocinar.
The presents are Great and it is also nice to Meet people from all around the world and learning new things from them. THANKS RACHELLE everything was lovely. Los regalos estuvieron fabulosos y también es bonito conocer gente de todo el mundo y aprender nuevas cosas de ellas. MUCHAS GRACIAS RACHELLE todo estuvo divino.

Blogger´s Quilt Festival 2009

This is one of my favorites Quilts. I first saw it on a McCalls Quilting magazine and I loved it. I have a friend who was going to the United States for a vacation and she brought me back the fabric.I made it and then decided I was going to embroider it. When I was small my grandma taught me how to embroider and I hadn´t done it for years.My grandma was one of my favorite persons in the world. So doing this quilt was like a tribute to her. Every time I see it, it reminds me of her. I have it in my livingroom as a wall hanging.

I have almost finished objectives 1 and 2 of Esperanza´s SAL. Here is the picture of the second one: Here are pictures of the first one, I did not want bold angel so I embroider their hair I´m missing the red headed one but need to go and buy some red floss. A Christmas Wish BOM

I have finish my BOM from Gail Pan, I don´t really know how to thank her I loved this project. I wish she would do something for next year. I have finished two thing for my swap angel but I´m not showing yet, I will do the third one this week and then send everything in the mail for her. But meanwhile I will show you what I did to one of my living room cushion, this is the before picture:

I was looking at all my fabrics and quilting stuff and I have 6 UFOS so I took them out and I will start working on them, my goal is to at least finish four of them before the end of the year. As I work on them I will show pictures.

But first I have to finish the presents for my swap angel here as some pics.

How exiting!!!! I have received emails from my swap angel. I have also sent some to mine. I have been stitching and doing little presents for her. I finished one today but I´m not going to show yet. Instead I am taking one of my UFO and show you a pic, I have decided to finish it by the end of September wish me luck. I don´t know why but it reminds me of Great Britain, must be the triangles.

It´s been a week since my last post. I have been busy with school´s first week and making the Toscana´s first border. As soon as I finish it I will show you some pics. I have to put myself to work since the stitchers´angel swap started, and I have also enrolled in a Christmas project.
So I better start stitching.

Selvages

For a few years I have come across some projects made with the selvage of the fabric. So I decided to keep them, instead of throwing them away. I already had a few when in the Mc Calls magazine I saw the cutest tote made with selvages by Karen Neary visit her Blog at http://sewkaren-lycreated.blogspot.com/ . As soon as I saw the Tote I knew I had to do it. So I put everything aside and made the tote during the weekend. Here are some pictures for you to see.

I have been doing some roses. I was going to show you a pic, but then I decided that I would send it to an angel, so I´d better not spoil surprises.

So instead, here is a pic of a new proyect that I found in Mc Calls quilting. This is the center of the wall hanging and still have to embroider it before I can continue. I hope that I will be able to show you a picture of the finished center by the end of the week.

So I better start working on it.

This quilt is the one that I am most proud off. I made it from McCalls quilting magazine. I wanted it exactly the same as in the magazine. I even bought Mark Lipinski´s fabric. Then I decided a little embroidery wouldn´t hurt. Although I already hang it on my living room I still want to embellish it a little more. Here are some pics.

I bought a magazine named Homespun from Australia were I found a beautiful quilt by Kellie Wulfsohn made by freehand raw-edge applique which I really enjoyed doing it.

What to do with old Jeans

We had a lot of old Jeans that didn`t fit anymore or were ragged so I decided to make a ragged edge quilt with them if you look close you can see pockets and embroidery in some blocks. The quilt is in my sons room as a rug.

My first Quilt

I made my first quilt for my daughter, she was 12 years old then. she was into pink and flowers. So we both designed it. here´s a pic

All the quilting was done by hand as well as the appliques I was so proud. She loved it.

Then I made one for myself. I made 96 diferent blocks and put them all together and I ended up with this:

And finally made one for my son. He said no flowers please. I made him one of Lynette Jensen´s quilts:

Finally, I will start writting a blog. It is exciting every day when I turn on my computer to read all the blogs I love. that I finally decided to share my thought and quilts.
My love for Quilts started at age 7 when I went to New Hampshire, USA. I was so intrigued with all the colors of fabrics and all the small pieces sewn together. I decided I wanted to learn how to quilt.
